"Awake, O Sleeper!"

Our Saturday workouts begin before the dawn. This serves a number of purposes. First, the dark hours are unencumbered by demands from others. Second, getting an early workout leaves the entire day for family obligations and other activities. Third, and perhaps the most relevant, is that it requires discipline. We find value in the act of shaking off the warmth of blankets and blissful slumber to march our tired bodies out—no matter the weather—to get face down in the wet grass with a bunch of guys.

How do you like your pain?

As we age, we’ll find ourselves asking this question a lot more: “Why does my [name body part] hurt?” And often we can no longer pinpoint a single event where we did the damage. Instead, it’s a mysterious ache or pinch we woke up with—and it won’t go away. Thus have I come to realize the inescapable truth that “life is pain.” But we can influence how and why we experience pain.

3rd Anniversary Workout recap

The Galvanize 3 year Anniversary Workout was a success. Thanks to Beacon, Clark Kent, Deadpool, The Duke, GMac, Kajabe, Zoolander (not pictured) and Isaiah and Jeremiah (sons of Beacon) for making this workout special.

The first upper-body circuit blasted the back, chest, bi’s and tri’s before moving on to the HIIT circuit. The AMRAP 1-minute stations with no break between stations challenged everyone and with only a minute rest between circuits, this was a great test of cardio, grit and mental resolve.

His purpose for you was to experience love, to feel joy, to know peace, to have patience, to be kind, to be good, to live in community with others and be loyal to our commitments.
